Danny Murphy Names His Preferred England Squad For 2022 FIFA World Cup

England Squade for fifa world cup

The 26-man England team that former Liverpool player Danny Murphy would bring to the 2022 FIFA World Cup was disclosed to talkSPORT.

On November 10, England manager Gareth Southgate will announce his team. Speculation is rife over who will travel to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup and who won't.

The latest footballing authority to weigh in on who Southgate should select to compete in Group B against Iran, the United States, and Wales is Murphy.

The 26-man roster for the former England international is as follows:

Goalkeepers:

Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Newcastle United), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal).

Defenders:

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Ben White (Arsenal), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur).James Tarkowski (Everton), John Stones (Manchester City), and a toss-up between Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace) and Ryan Sessegnon (Tottenham).

The groyne injury Walker sustained during Manchester City's 6-3 victory over Manchester United on October 2 has kept him out of action.

Murphy would take a chance on him nonetheless because of his experience and speed.

The former Liverpool midfielder added that Tarkowski is outperforming Conor Coady of Everton.

Midfielders:

Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Declan Rice (West Ham), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), James Maddison (Leicester City).

Maddison was rated by Murphy as the Premier League's current most creative player.

The Foxes midfielder has 13 appearances across competitions and six goals and four assists.

Murphy left out Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City because he had only made three appearances and wasn't getting enough playing time.

Forwards:

Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Callum Wilson (Newcastle), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).

Rashford can play both out wide and as a centre forward, which appeals to Murphy.

In 17 appearances across competitions, the Red Devils forward has scored seven goals and provided three assists.
